elo[i] (also known as [eloi]) is a channel operator in #c++ whose nickname applies the array operator in C++ to the name of the surface-dwelling Eloi in the novel The Time Machine (by way of a monologue in the 1996 film Ransom). It is unknown whether the novel itself refers to the Biblical phrase, "Eloi Eloi lema sabachthani?."
